Adolescence Committee
The Committee focuses on health, development, dysfunction and the role of psychiatry in adolescence.
ABOUT OUR COMMITTEE
Our Committee focuses on the mental health and development of adolescence as a vital period in the human life trajectory. The developmental changes of adolescence can begin earlier than the teen years and extend beyond them. We see adolescence as a period of potential and actualized strengths and vulnerabilities, influenced by and influencing relationships in the context of our entire ecology. Our goal as a group in GAP is to reflect and comment on those strengths, vulnerabilities, and mutual influences to understand and support optimal mental health and development for youth, their families and their cultures. We view interactions with the healthcare sector as a priority. Projects include academic and clinical reviews as well as advocacy initiatives.
